All-round Visibility in the Outback

The Subaru Outback is designed to minimise blind spots, reduce line of sight obstructions and provide excellent visibility in all directions. Body pillar widths are minimised wherever possible, without compromising safety, to increase windscreen area and visibility. The front is designed to give you a better awareness of the Outback’s dimensions, while reversing visibility is given special attention for peace of mind in driveway situations and around busy school zones.

Second pair of eyes

Subaru’s renowned technologies include the unrivalled ‘Driver Assist System’ called EyeSight®. EyeSight® is your second pair of eyes that monitors the road ahead and recognises potentially dangerous driving situations. Using three-dimensional images captured by stereo cameras mounted behind the front windscreen, EyeSight® provides audible and visual warnings to prompt the driver to take action. Depending on general visibility, it has a length of vision up to 130 metres. Apart from these built-in driver alert functions, EyeSight® will also apply automatic braking intervention, when necessary, to help avoid or reduce the severity of a detected frontal collision.

EyeSight® Driver Assist technology

Through more than 30 years of development and many real-world tests and evaluation, EyeSight® Driver Assist has been developed to respond to many individual market’s traffic conditions. With multiple incredible features, EyeSight® works with Subaru’s acclaimed collision avoidance and collision protection technologies, working together to provide improved protection for you and your family.

Subaru’s Driver Monitoring System*

Watching out for you, this innovative system monitors the driver’s face for signs of fatigue or distraction and provides an audible and visual warning if it detects signs of fatigue or that the driver is not focused on the road ahead. The system is also clever enough to recognise the face of up to five registered drivers and will sync each driver's preferred settings including air-conditioning and MID display settings. Subaru Outback AWD Touring and Outback AWD Touring XT can also sync each driver's seat and door mirror position. Now that's clever!

Driver Monitoring System performance and capability dependent on environmental and technical conditions. Refer to Owner’s Manual for full details.

Subaru’s Vision Assist

Subaru’s Vision Assist is advanced technology that gives you greater awareness of the world around you.

Reverse Automatic Braking (RAB) senses and alerts you when it detects an obstacle behind you that you’re at risk of hitting. Plus it can even step in to apply the brakes in the event that you don’t.

Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) features sensors that let you know when there’s something in a blind spot to help make lane changes safer.

Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) can warn you that another car is approaching when reversing out of a car space. Cutting-edge technology to help keep your family safe.

Fun to drive

After a week cruising down city motorways, the Outback is restless for adventure. So, take it out of the city and take it off the beaten track. This is where some SUVs get nervous. This is where the Outback gets real. With Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and X-Mode, coupled with your choice of either Subaru's famous 2.5-litre Boxer engine and 2,000kg* braked towing capacity on the Subaru Outback AWD, Outback AWD Sport and Outback AWD Touring, or the 2.4-litre turbocharged Boxer Engine with impressive 2,400kg* braked towing capacity, the Outback is ready to take you there.

All wheels, all of the time

The sign of a true performer, is good balance. And when it comes to driving a Subaru, superior balance equals superior vehicle control. That’s why Subaru has built its reputation on its Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system and a symmetrical drivetrain that deliver an innate sense of balance from the ground up. Symmetrical AWD delivers engine power to all four wheels simultaneously. Having power distributed across all four wheels, rather than two on conventional vehicles, gives you twice the traction capacity. So under acceleration there’s more grip for cornering and more capacity to keep on track through the corners.

Ultimately, having the driving force spread across all four wheels means greater control and confidence under all conditions. The traction and control delivered by Symmetrical AWD is further enhanced by the Outback’s suspension. The wide track rigid front suspension produces more responsive steering and cornering, while the double wishbone rear suspension ensures a smooth, controlled ride with outstanding handling, comfort and quietness. For you, the driver, it all adds up to an agile and responsive vehicle with optimum balance, control and confidence in a variety of driving conditions.

Safety without compromise

Safety starts with an improved chassis and a body frame reinforced to increase frontal, side and rear crash safety. Designated crumple zones are designed to direct impact energy away from the reinforced passenger safety cell, while SRS¹ airbags – including dual front, dual front side, dual curtain, driver’s knee and front passenger seat cushion are designed to protect occupants. The Boxer engine sits low in the engine bay, and is designed to help protect occupants by sliding below the cabin – not into it - in the event of a severe frontal collision.

1. The Guaranteed Future Value (GFV) is the minimum future value of your vehicle as determined by Subaru Financial Services (SFS) and set out in your contract. At the end of the term, you can select from three options: (1) sell or trade in the vehicle and repay your loan balance; (2) return the vehicle to us; or (3) retain the vehicle by paying the GFV amount, which is a lump sum amount owed to us at the end of the loan term. Total interest payable on the loan will be higher than a loan with no GFV. Monthly repayments will be lower compared to a similar loan term with no GFV or no equivalent balloon final payment. Available on new and demonstrator Subaru vehicles for selected models only. Vehicle eligibility is subject to change. If you decide to return your car at the end of your term, SFS, or another person or entity with SFS's agreement will purchase the vehicle from you for the GFV, which will be applied to reduce your outstanding loan amount. However, you will need to pay us an additional amount if the vehicle is damaged or you have travelled excess kilometres. Terms, conditions, fees and charges apply. Approved applicants only.

2. Finance to approved applicants only. These repayments are for indicative use only. No result from the use of the calculator should be considered a loan application or an offer of a loan. The estimated repayment amount is based on a secured Consumer Loan with a 48 month term, a 15,000 annual km allowance, 10.49% p.a. indicative interest rate with a $0 deposit and the displayed Guaranteed Future Value amount. Repayments must be made fortnightly or monthly and cannot be made weekly. Dealer commission, standard fees and charges apply. Before making a decision about any of the products and services featured on this website, you should consult with your own independent legal, taxation and financial advisors, who can advise you about your personal circumstances.

4. Most of our property owner customers qualify for the advertised comparison rate or better. The actual comparison rate offered to you may vary based on factors including your credit score, loan amount, term and property ownership status. The comparison rate is based on a secured consumer fixed rate loan of $30,000 over a term of 5 years. WARNING: This comparison rate is true only for the examples given and may not include all fees and charges. Different terms, fees or other loan amounts might result in a different comparison rate. Finance is provided by IFSA Pty Ltd ABN 39 651 319 774 trading as Subaru Financial Services, managed by Allied Retail Finance Pty Ltd ABN 31 609 859 985 Australian credit licence 483211.

(i) Comparison Rate
The comparison rate includes your loan's interest rate - plus other fees and charges relating to your loan - and expresses the combined amount as a percentage figure to determine the true cost of your loan. Estimates are indicative only. This indicative estimate has been provided to assist you with calculating what your repayments may be and does not constitute an offer capable of acceptance. Rates are subject to the accuracy of the information provided by you, the outcome of the assessment of your application, and changes in base rates. Any changes to the loan details may result in a different interest rate. The actual rate applied and repayment amount will be confirmed in the finance documentation if your application is approved. Fees and charges are payable. Full terms and conditions are available on request.
